So if you've been reading my blogs you know that Rico lives with me and my boyfriend (daddy), and Hector lives with my grandmother (their great-grandmother). I see Hector everyday. My grandmother tells me that he always knows it's me when I am at her door, and I believe her because he's always there to greet me. Though I haven't had cats my whole life, and I do not at all claim to be a cat expert I will venture to say that Hector is probably one of the most well-behaved cats in the world. Now I'm not saying he doesn't get into things he shouldn't sometimes, but the biggest difference between most cats and Hector is that Hector listens. If you tell him no he won't do it. If you call his name he gives you his undivided attention. If you tell him to come he does.

And the funny thing about Rico and Hector is that though they both grew up with the same parents, same rules, same restrictions, it seems that Hector knows the rules and Rico doesn't; or Hector listens and Rico doesn't. Sometimes I bring Rico over to my grandmother's apartment when I feel bad that he'll be all alone all day, and she knows which one is Rico (they look fairly identical) when he jumps up onto the refrigerator. Hector would never do this. Hector knows he is not allowed on countertops and especially not refrigerators.

Hector is quiet and respectful. He knows his place. If you are cleaning he will follow you around as if to say, "What can I do?" So why should this sweet sweet cat be bounced from home to home with no place to call his own???

When my grandmother asked to keep Hector (not Rico because she couldn't handle his behavior), and we decided to give it a trial run, we found it was better for everyone all around. Rico calmed down (just a bit), Rico ate less, Hector ate more, my grandmother had a companion, and we only had one cat to worry about for the most part. Well now after at least a month of this arrangement my grandmother is finding that she may be very allergic to Hector. She ignored it for a while because she fell in love with him (and who wouldn't?), but she's been getting up in the middle of the night itching all over, and it has only gotten worse since Hector has been living there. We got rid of all bleach in the house, paint, and some other things that might cause her skin to itch, but it's looking like Hector is the culprit.

If this is the case what do we do??? We can't take him back because we realized he and Rico just don't get along (side note: they fight almost every time they are together). I doubt he can go to my parents' house because they have a big dog and my dad isn't exactly a cat fan.

What do I do??? Right now with this arrangement I still get to see him everyday and my boyfriend sees him probably once a week. I'll never see him if we have to give him to someone we don't know!!! I love my Hecky!!!

Do you think he would miss us???

hector is cute!
